60 day challenge sugar free grain free paleo weekly update 28 days

Challenge 28 day recap Instagram

Four weeks in and I feel like this healthstyle is becoming quite a simple part of my everyday life.  These words may come back to bite me in a few weeks if I find myself struggling, but it just seems to be getting easier.  This week included 3 different social situations where I was eating away from home and I didn’t find it too challenging at all.

I do feel like I need to be a bit more structured with my eating plan and organise my grocery shopping a bit better.  I’m usually pretty good at sticking with a weekly dinner plan, but I think the school holidays and being out of my grocery shopping routine has thrown me a bit.  Kinder starts back next week so I’m planning to get back on track then.

Biggest challenges this week?

I would go so far to say that I haven’t had any real challenges this last week.  Even though I haven’t been as organised as usual with my meal planning, I’ve still been able to make smart choices.

If I had to pick one challenge though it would be a lack of time to absorb the enormous amount of information I am gathering regarding a Paleo / Primal lifestyle and how it helps people with digestive issues like me.  I just can’t get enough information at the moment and a lack of dedicated reading time is the only thing holding me back!

Food journal & new recipes

I had big plans to try some new recipes this weekend but I chose time with my family instead.  I’m hoping to try these recipes in the next few days so hopefully I can share later in the week.  I recognise that I’m still meat-heavy with my protein choices and I’m looking forward to introducing some more fish and chicken this week.

Foods marked with an (*) in the food journal are included in the ‘recipe links and more info’ section at the bottom of my 60 day challenge page.

12 minute cobb salad

I cook my hard boiled eggs for exactly 12 minutes – hence the 12 minute cobb salad! I was standing in front of the fridge wondering what my dinner was going to look like tonight (I didn’t feel like the lamb roast I took out of the freezer), when I realised I had everything I […]

60 day challenge : 21 days

I don’t think I can recall a time in my life where I came home from a holiday feeling lighter and healthier for it.  Usually holidays are a time for me to let loose and over indulge, but not this time.  I can say with confidence that even through 4 flights, multiple family gatherings, extraordinarily […]

Snacks on a plane

Do you see what I did there?  Not Snakes on a Plane with Samuel L. Jackson.  Snacks on a Plane with Hello Little House! Anyway, I thought it was funny at the time… This last weekend we flew up to Queensland for a mini break and it was the first time we’ve all been on […]

Recipe love : sweet & savoury coconut

I love coconut and my most favourite way to eat it is freshly cut in big, juicy chunks.  Coconut has an extensive list of healing properties, but most importantly it’s a natural cleanser for our stomachs and therefore very helpful for the digestion issues I’ve been having.  I tend to buy lots of fresh coconuts, […]

Chia, coconut & spinach smoothie

Ch-ch-ch-chia! Green spinach might not sound like your ideal smoothie flavour, but between the coconut milk and the vanilla you won’t even be thinking about the spinach. I’ve been eating chia seeds for a while now but if they’re a new food for you the texture of the wet seeds might take a little getting […]

60 day challenge : 14 day recap

I feel like I’ve had a pretty good week.  Surprisingly (for me) I haven’t given into temptation even in the most tempting of situations.  It probably helps that I really believe in the principles of Paleo and Primal lifestyles and really want to give this challenge a red hot go. During the week though I […]

Giant drawstring Lego mat

All the memories I have of my brother’s LEGO growing up include the drawstring LEGO mat that was always spread out on the floor of his bedroom.  Ok, so he didn’t have a crazy haircut like that or wear funky, beige overalls but his LEGO mat was just the same… [ source ] When we […]

60 day challenge : 7 day recap

Well I got through 7 days and I’m still kickin’.  Not that I thought this challenge was going to be the death of me, but I knew it was going to be a tough 7 days.  The first few days I was like a bear with a sore head and I feel sorry for anyone […]

Broccoli & bacon salad

This salad was perfect. After finishing my Salad in a Jar lunches, I was looking for something a little different that would still satisfy my salad-crunch craving, and this hit the spot.  Broccoli is actually one of my favourite vegetables but I’ve never really enjoyed it raw until now.  This salad was the perfect blend […]
