Turkish delight sundae

Turkish delight sundae HLH

Yes, that is creamy vanilla ice-cream…
with chunks of Turkish delight…
and lightly toasted pistachio nuts…
and a smooth raspberry coulis.

I guess I don’t have to tell you that I couldn’t wait for this photo shoot to be over.  The sundae didn’t last very long.

Really simple and really delicious.

Moving house box register

At this point I don’t think I need to emphasise how much of a nightmare moving house can be.  If you’ve done it at least once I’m sure you can completely relate.  As I’ve mentioned before, our most recent move involved packing up the biggest house we’ve ever lived in and unpacking the boxes into […]

Potato & leek soup

When my husband and I first moved in together, he brought with him a couple of recipes that had seen him through his bachelor days.  This soup was one of them and the original piece of scrap paper that the recipe was scrawled on all those years ago sits in my recipe folder.   This […]

Simple no-cook playdough

My boys are pretty typical and spend most of their time in the backyard digging holes, collecting sticks and looking for creepy crawlies.  But even my fearless little men are a bit tired of the Winter wind and rain.  So we’re playing inside today. [ Print this recipe ]

My little pantry makeover

A little house  =  a little kitchen  =  a little pantry  =  no room for being disorganised. But disorganised I was!  I just couldn’t get my cooking mojo on in this new house and I suspected that my chaotic pantry was the culprit.  I had been so busy unpacking the rest of the house that […]

A cup of savings

This doesn’t look like $63, does it?  I promise it is.  And I can say with confidence that I haven’t missed this money at all. We’ve had our chicken coop savings cup going for just over a month now and we’re halfway towards our goal.  Sure, we could have just found the money to pay […]

Indian rice pilaf with spicy mince

This is a great recipe, but the real star of this dish is the rice.  It’s one of those versatile recipes that you can build so many simple meals around.  You can’t really tell from the photo, but the flavour comes from a mixture of cumin seeds, caraway seeds, turmeric, garlic & onion.  A great […]

Homemade gift for new mums

When I was a new mum, those first few days / weeks / months were a total blur – 3 hourly feeds, endless nappy changes, the sleep deprivation, never-ending housework… the list continues. One thing I remember clearly though is how much I appreciated the homemade meals that were given to us by family and […]
