My favourite things

My favourite things Feb 2013 - Hello Little House

Sometimes it’s the material things in life that bring a little joy to our lives.  Shallow yes, but true none-the-less.  Here’s what I’m loving right now :

1.  Breville Quiet Boil Kettle

It might seem a little strange to love a kettle, but in this little house of mine boiling the kettle early in the morning wakes up the entire house.  My old kettle seriously sounded like a jet engine taking off and this one is so super quiet that I can boil to my hearts content without worrying about complaints from the family (and cranky, sleepy-eyed kids).  I chose one in a glossy black finish and it looks super snazzy in my kitchen.

2.  Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+

This would have to be my favourite moisturiser ever.  I’ve always avoided night creams because every one I’ve tried has felt too heavy for bedtime, but this is just beautiful.  It would be easy to think that an oil would be greasy but it just disappears into my skin  Plus, a little bit goes a long way so the bottle will keep you going for longer than you think.  (Note: I wear a different moisturiser with a high SPF during the day.)

3.  Ryobi Hand Vac

Kids seem to leave a trail of crumbs and destruction behind them and I can just whip this baby out and suck up the trail in an instant.  It will never replace my beloved Dyson vacuum cleaner, but for a hand vac this does a great job.  I love the rechargeable battery too.

4.   Contigo Autoseal Madison Water Bottle (750ml)

Don’t ask me why, but I just love drinking out of this water bottle.  Maybe because the autoseal ensures it doesn’t leak.  Maybe because it helps me track my water intake during the day.  Maybe because it has a clip in the handle so I can hang it on the pram.  Maybe because it’s pink.  I don’t really know – I just love it.  Even my husband ended up with a blue version.  The Contigo website doesn’t include a lot of information on distribution within Australia, but I bought mine from ‘Store’ and I’ve also seen them in a few different kitchen shops.  All Contigo water bottles are BPA free.

Ok, well I really want a new kettle now. Mine sounds like a jet taking off and, apparently, Fireman Sam and Octonauts cannot be heard above it! And all hail Contigo bottles, between the four of us we’ve got seven!

I forgot about the cries of protest if I dared to boil the kettle while Peppa Pig was on! Very funny. Worth the investment Andie.
