This is a recipe reserved for Christmas because I can only be trusted with making this once every 12 months. Even as I type this post I have the same sugar headache I remember from last year. When will I learn? Sugar headache aside, this caramel popcorn makes a simple (and slightly naughty) Christmas gift and looks great packaged in noodle boxes or wrapped in clear cellophane with ribbon.
I’ve included in the recipe a reminder to clear the kitchen of children and animals before you start making the caramel. It’s extremely hot and sticky stuff so make sure you don’t get any on yourself or anyone else because it will burn, baby, burn. And under no circumstances be tempted to lick the cooling caramel on the wooden spoon – it’s really hard to talk with third degree burns on your tongue.
